A charity fundraiser event, Handbags for Hospices, which took place at Pub Du Vin Brighton last Thursday 28th February has helped raise £6,000 for Brighton-based hospice, The Martlets.

The sold out event welcomed 130 guests through the doors and showcased 100 donated bags in a silent auction.

Supporting The Martlets Hospice, which plays a vital role in helping people to live life as fully as they can right up until the end, guests got the chance to get their hands on a bag that may have previously graced the arm of a glamorous celebrity including Davina McCall, Paloma Faith, Gemma Arterton and Zoe Ball.

Handbags for Hospices is the brainchild of best friends, and Lucy Wilkes, who together created the concept have already received national interest and continues to grow.

Abigail Bowen, founder of Handbag For Hospices, said: “The atmosphere in the room was incredible and everyone was so supportive and encouraging. The guests loved the bags - some women even went home with 3 or 4! Most importantly, we generated over £6,000 on the night for The Martlets Hospice – with everyone saying they'll be back for the next one.

“I love the fact that every time those bags get used, they are a reminder of a fun night out, as well as supporting a great cause.”

For the chance to get involved and donate your handbag(s) for the next event, please contact us on info@handbagsforhospices.com.
